Our Culture

Flexible Schedule

We keep time in six-minute increments for our clients; we need not do so for ourselves. We trust each other to prioritize appropriately and work when we are sharpest, which may not be between 9am and 5pm.

Unlimited PTO

Employees take the amount of PTO that they schedule for themselves to handle “life maintenance” like health appointments, car and home repairs, or other activities that must be resolved during typical working hours.

Work-From-Home

We work from home when it makes sense—for any reason. There is no in-office minimum.

Family-Focused

Work-life balance is important at Mayo Law Firm. Many of our employees have family requirements that occasionally require attention during traditional office hours. We learned to accommodate these events from seeing our clients’ successes using similar programs.

Adaptive to Change

We understand that there are rhythms to life; lawyers may focus too often on precedent. We extend flexibility and grace to colleagues as they navigate new parenthood, take momentous trips, or occasionally overcommit, secure in the knowledge that we will receive the same from them.

Our offices in the Patterson Wing of the CFA Institute building include access to a subsidized cafe, a gym, and on-site parking near the heart of downtown Charlottesville.

Professional Development

Expertise has a short shelf-life. We continuously seek new information in our areas of specialty because the information costs are otherwise borne by our clients. We cover MCLE, practical training, tuition, bar dues and legal membership fees.

We offer a 401(k) safe-harbor plan and match contributions beyond the minimum.
